Panzera of Men's Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Region Honors for 2023-24

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a marvelous debut season as a Purple Knight, freshman John Panzera of the University of Bridgeport's men's track and field team has earned All-Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for 2023-24.
The rookie decathlete caps off his first year at UB in style. After earning a pair of CACC All-Conference accolades at the conference championships earlier this month, Panzera picks up All-Region accolades thanks to his superb efforts at the UMass Multi Meet in April (10-11).
Panzera's score of 5302 at UMass ended up being ranked fifth in the East Region in the decathlon.
A trio of lifetime-best times highlighted Panzera's terrific performance. In fact, the Haddam, Conn. native capped off both day's events with PRs.
He started with a mark of 53.04 in the 400-meter on Day One before clocking a 16.38 in the 110-hurdles and then 53.04 in the 1500m on the second day.
Panzera's month began with a second-place finish in the pole vault and a fourth-place finish in the 110-hurdles at the CACC Championships.
