Urrea Vargas of Men's Swimming and Diving Named to NE10's Academic All-Conference Team
Earned a pair of diving medals for the NE10 Champions while boasting a 3.85 cumulative GPA.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of his outstanding achievements both in the pool and in the classroom, graduate student Juan David Urrea Vargas of the University of Bridgeport men's swimming and diving team has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference Team for the 2025-26 season.
A Mechanical Engineering major, Urrea Vargas boasts an impressive 3.85 cumulative GPA while continuing to shine in the pool. He played a key role in the Purple Knights' historic NE10 Championship victory, delivering a pair of podium finishes in the diving events.
Urrea Vargas opened the meet with a silver medal in the three-meter dive, posting a score of 381.0. He followed that performance with a bronze medal effort in the one-meter dive, recording a mark of 391.45.
To be eligible for selection to NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements:
- Named to sport All-Conference team (First, Second, Third or Defensive).
- Must have spent at least two consecutive full-time semesters at the institution (not including the last semester completed)
- Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 (for both undergrad and grad)
