Swimming and Diving Grabs Two NE10 Weekly Awards
Maximiliano Pedrozo Sevila, NE10 Swimmer of the Week | Amber Militrano, NE10 Diver of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following standout performances in a meet that featured three Division I foes on Saturday, the University of Bridgeport's swimming and diving programs earned a pair of Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards on Tuesday. Freshman Maximiliano Pedrozo Sevila was named as the NE10's Rookie of the Week while sophomore Amber Militrano was selected as the conference's Diver of the Week for a second time.
Pedrozo Sevila delivered a dominant outing in UB's dual meet against Saint Peter's, sweeping all three of his events. He claimed first place in the 100-breast with a time of 58.44, which ranks as the fourth-fastest mark in the NE10 this season. He followed it up by winning the 100-fly in 51.68, the fifth-fastest time recorded in the conference this year. Pedrozo Sevila also helped power the Purple Knights to victory in the 200-medley relay, clocking a 1:33.53—currently the top relay time in the NE10.
Militrano posted a one-meter score of 121.50 on Saturday to finish sixth in a field that featured Division I opponents from Sacred Heart, Merrimack, and Saint Peter's. The mark stands as her second-highest total of the season. It also surpasses her year average by 8.6 points, highlighting one of her strongest outings to date. Militrano was previously named the NE10's Diver of the Week on Nov. 11.
UB's swimming and diving teams will return to action following Thanksgiving Break. The Purple Knights are set to take part in the ECAC Winter Championships on Long Island from Dec. 5-7.
