BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Coming off a dramatic 1-1 draw at Bentley on Wednesday, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team posted another 1-1 result on Saturday at home against Jefferson. The Purple Knights extend their unbeaten streak to five straight games while moving their record to 3-3-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the CACC.
Senior Alan Flores was the goal-scorer for UB as he put in the game-tying tally in the 76th minute after Jefferson held a 1-0 lead since early in the first half.
Flores' first-career Bridgeport tally was assisted by both Josh Erdos and Kaanturk Akgul.
Akgul forced a Rams turnover deep in their defensive zone, found Erdos at the top of the box who one-touched it over to a streaking Flores. Flores wasted no time in hammering a right-footed shot into the right-corner of the net.
The Purple Knights controlled possession on Saturday, especially in the second half. UB put together a 14-3 edge in shots across the final 45 minutes while posting a 4-3 advantage in corners.
Jefferson's keeper JR Sexton made four key saves over the final 34:19 of regulation.
UB's goalie Viktor Mašek finished with one stop which was a diving effort that denied a second Jefferson goal in the 63rd minute.
