Three Purple Knights Earn All-East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Honors

West Babylon, N.Y.-Three members of the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team have earned spots on the 2018 All-East Coast Conference teams in a vote of league coaches that was announced today.

Junior midfielder Lucas Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) earned a spot on the Second Team All-Conference squad.  Santos finished 2018 with three goals and one assist for a total of seven points in 10 matches played.

A pair of Purple Knights were selected to the All-East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Third Team in junior forward Leandro Avila (Panama City, Panama) and graduate student defender Marlon Montanella (Cannes, France).

Avila led UB in scoring this season posting 20 points on eight goals and four assists in 12 matches played.

Montanella helped anchor the Purple Knights' defense all season long seeing action in 14 of the team's 15 matches.  He also contributed three goals for six points in 2018.

All three players helped Bridgeport post an impressive 10-4-1 overall record and a 5-3-1 ECC mark this year.
