LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Capping off a stretch of three tough CACC games in eight days, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team (2-4, 1-2 CACC) endured a 13-10 defeat at Georgian Court on Saturday.
The Purple Knights battled back from multiple deficits during the contest. After trailing 6-2 early, UB chipped away and later trimmed an 8-4 deficit to just 8-7 late in the third quarter, putting themselves within striking distance.
Georgian Court, however, answered with a 5-3 run to close the game, including a 4–1 stretch to begin the fourth quarter that proved decisive.
UB's offense featured a balanced attack, as six different players scored goals.
Stephen Trama, Darien Fray, James Napoli and Ashton Lankowski all finished with two goals, while Matthew Levantini and Luciano Canino also found the back of the net.
Luca Runyan led the team with three assists, while Levantini added two helpers and Trama and Napoli chipped in one apiece.
At the faceoff X, Connor Cullen once again delivered an outstanding performance, winning 16 of his 22 attempts to give Bridgeport valuable possessions.
In net, Matthew Hughes registered 12 saves, marking his fourth game this season with double-digit stops.
Bridgeport generated consistent pressure throughout the game, forcing Georgian Court's goalkeeper to make 15 saves, as both teams finished the contest with 25 shots on goal.
