Thomas and Trama of Men's Lacrosse Earn CACC Weekly Awards
Ryan Thomas, Defensive Player of the Week | Stephen Trama, Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following terrific efforts in a pair of UB wins last week, Stephen Trama and Ryan Thomas of the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team were each rewarded with CACC weekly awards on Monday.
Trama was tabbed the conference's Rookie of the Week for a second straight time while Thomas was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Trama piloted UB's offense with a team-high eight points in triumphs over Holy Family and Dominican—games they needed to win to make the CACC playoffs. He began the stretch with two goals and three assists versus the Tigers before registering two tallies and a helper against the Chargers. Trama currently ranks second on UB in total points (35) and goals (21) this season while being tied for the team lead in assists (14).
Thomas, meanwhile, was up to his usual disruptive dominant ways. The junior put together four caused turnovers in both of UB's wins while also totaling nine ground balls for the week. Thomas is currently ranked second in the CACC in caused turnovers per game (2.86) this season while ranking second on Bridgeport in ground balls (53). He has now registered multiple CTs in 11 straight contests.
