On Sunday, we retired the jerseys of 3 of the best to ever wear the purple and white here at the University of Bridgeport! In a ceremony before the game vs Franklin Pierce, Manute Bol, Stevie Ray and Lambert Shell had their jerseys unveiled on the wall of Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. This gesture recognizes the incredible impact these three have made on and off the court to the University and community beyond. Everyone who steps on Bruce Webster Court will be able to look up and know what numbers 10, 30 & 42 mean to the University of Bridgeport Men's Basketball program! Fueled by a 20-3 run late in the second half, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team rattled off a 93-76 win over Dominican on Wednesday night.
Despite facing a 10-point deficit late in the second half, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team earned an 80-73 win over the College of Staten Island on Tuesday night. The non-conference victory pushes the Purple Knights' record to 7-7 this season. We spoke with Graduate student Sam DeSouza after his season-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to secure his first double-double of the season, in addition to recording two blocks, two steals and two assists.
