Men's Basketball Closes Season With OT Loss at Goldey-Beacom
Purple Knights unable to capitalize on a season-best shooting percentage.
WILMINGTON, Del. – Despite a career afternoon from Jason Edokpayi and one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team came up just short in a 106-101 overtime setback at Goldey-Beacom on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights finish the year with a 10-17 record (7-13 CACC).
Trailing by as many as 14 in the first half and down 47-39 at the break, UB regrouped in the second half behind a blistering shooting effort.
Bridgeport shot a season-best 52.3 percent from the floor (34-of-65) and matched its season high with 11 three-pointers, eventually surging in front by nine with 6:19 remaining in regulation.
Goldey-Beacom answered late, however, and forced overtime after John Dash Jr. calmly knocked down a pair of clutch free throws with only a second left to tie the game at 89-89.
Edokpayi delivered a monstrous performance in his final game of the season, pouring in a career-high 32 points on 11-of-17 shooting while drilling four three-pointers and grabbing 14 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the year.
The graduate student finishes the campaign averaging a team-best 15.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game—fourth in the CACC in rebounding—while ranking second in the league in blocks at 1.9 per contest.
Jayson Handy added a season-high 20 points, knocking down four triples, while Dash posted 17 points to go along with team highs of six assists and four steals.
Shedrach Makanjuola rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, and Jaden Palmer contributed six points and five assists.
Bridgeport placed four players in double figures, as Edokpayi, Handy, Dash and Makanjuola combined for 79 of the team's 101 points.
Ultimately, Goldey-Beacom capitalized at the free-throw line, going 44-of-56 for the game to edge the Purple Knights in the extra session and close out the 2025-26 campaign.
