Edokpayi of Men's Basketball Named CACC Defensive Player of the Week
Dominant stretch featured averages of 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – For the second time in the past month, graduate student Jason Edokpayi of the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team has been selected as the CACC's Defensive Player of the Week. He previously earned the honor on Jan. 26 while also winning the accolade once during the 2024-25 season.
Edokpayi turned in another dominant two-game stretch for the Purple Knights last week, averaging 23.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per contest.
The Maryland native was highly efficient offensively, shooting 17-of-26 from the field (65 percent) while anchoring UB on both ends of the floor. In addition to his scoring and rebounding presence, Edokpayi added four assists and a pair of steals across the two outings.
Edokpayi continues to climb among the conference's elite, as he currently ranks fourth in the CACC in rebounds per game (7.7) and third in blocks per game (1.8).
Edokpayi and the rest of UB's men's basketball team will return to action tomorrow night at home against Dominican (7 p.m.).
