LAKEWOOD, N.J. – In a back-and-forth battle that featured 18 lead changes and 18 ties, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team (9-12, 6-8 CACC) suffered an 82-77 setback at Georgian Court on Saturday afternoon.
Jordan Miller drilled a go-ahead three-pointer to put the Purple Knights in front, 70-69, with 2:48 remaining, but Georgian Court answered with a decisive 10-2 run down the stretch to pull away late.
Despite the loss, UB dominated the glass. The Purple Knights outrebounded the Lions, 49-25, converting those extra possessions into 21 second-chance points, while also receiving a huge lift from its bench, which supplied 45 of the team's 77 points.
Isaiah Sullivan led UB scorers with a season-high 30 points off the bench, finishing an efficient 13-of-14 from the free-throw line and eclipsing the 20-point mark for the seventh time this season.
Jaheem Tyson also delivered a standout performance in reserve, posting his second double-double of the year with 12 points and a season-high 12 rebounds.
Jason Edokpayi rounded out Bridgeport's double-figure scorers with 15 points and eight boards, extending his streak of games in double figures to 16.
John Dash Jr. chipped in eight points and two assists as the Purple Knights traded leads throughout a back-and-forth affair before the late surge by the home team proved to be the difference.
