Men's Basketball Nipped by Holy Family, 76-74
Purple Knights' final attempt rolled just off the rim as time expired.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – For the second straight game, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team (8-8, 5-4 CACC) came up just short as a potential game-tying attempt at the buzzer narrowly missed in a 76-74 loss to Holy Family on Saturday inside Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. This time, John Dash's driving floater rolled off the rim as time expired, capping a tightly contested affair that featured eight ties and 10 lead changes.
Isaiah Sullivan paced the Purple Knights offensively with a game-high 19 points, marking his 15th double-figure scoring performance of the season.
Jason Edokpayi once again filled the stat sheet, finishing with 10 points to extend his streak to 11 consecutive games in double figures, while also adding six rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Dash, Shedrach Makanjuola and Thomas Glover each contributed seven points for Bridgeport in a balanced scoring effort.
Jaheem Tyson delivered another strong spark off the bench, posting team-highs of 11 rebounds and five assists to go along with four points, while helping fuel a Bridgeport bench that outscored Holy Family's reserves, 26-22.
In all, 13 Purple Knights found the scoring column and 12 different players recorded at least one rebound, highlighting Bridgeport's depth.
UB also took care of the basketball at a season-best level, committing just seven turnovers in the game.
In a contest decided by two points, the Purple Knights' 17-for-28 performance at the free-throw line proved to be one of the differences on the scoreboard.
