Men's Basketball Suffers Road Loss at SNHU, 74-69
Purple Knights unable to erase 12-point halftime deficit.
MANCHESTER, N.H. – Playing against their fourth NE10 opponent of the season, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team suffered a 74-69 defeat at SNHU on Tuesday night. The road loss puts the Purple Knights' record at an even 4-4 this year.
Amongst the highlights for the Purple Knights was Jason Edokpayi recording his first double-double of the season and the fifth of his UB career. The graduate student finished with 15 points and a season-high 10 rebounds while reaching double figures for the sixth time this year.
Zay Sullivan added 12 points, extending his streak of scoring in double digits to all eight UB games this season. Jaheem Tyson matched Edokpayi on the glass with 10 rebounds, marking his second double-digit rebounding performance of the year.
Shedrach Makanjuola served as UB's third double-figure scorer with 11 points off the bench that included a pair of three-pointers.
The Purple Knights outrebounded SNHU overall with a 48–46 advantage, but a season-low field-goal percentage (32.9%) hampered their ability to capitalize. UB did, however, turn in its best performance of the season at the foul line, going 14-for-17 (82.4%).
Bench scoring also added a boost with 27 points, and 10 different Purple Knights recorded a made field goal. Ultimately, a 12-point halftime deficit proved too difficult to erase, even as UB outscored SNHU 32–25 after the break.
