Men's Basketball Edged Out By Daemen, 87-85, In ECC Clash

Bridgeport, Conn.- The visiting Daemen College Wildcats edged out the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 87-85, on Sunday afternoon in an East Coast Conference men's basketball matchup in the Park City. It was a close game throughout with 11 different ties and five lead changes, but Daemen ultimately pulled away by making six straight free throws in the final minute. With the loss, UB is now 8-9 overall and 3-4 in the ECC.  Daemen is now 14-3 overall and 6-1 in conference action.

Junior John Middleton (Atlantic City, N.J.) was extremely efficient off the UB bench, leading the Purple Knights with 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor, including going 4-for-4 from three-point land. He was joined in double digits by classmate Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.)with 16 points, 10 of which came in the second half, and senior Eric Rankin (Bronx, N.Y.) with 14 points.

Up next, the UB men's basketball team will look to get back in the win column as they travel to LIU Post on Wednesday night.  Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m
