Bridgeport, Conn.-The American International College Yellow Jackets outscored the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 17-5, over the final 6:23 of the game to snap a 68-68 tie and record an 85-73 non-conference men's basketball win over the host Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon in Hubbell Gym. AIC is now 1-6 overall, and UB falls to 1-4.
Senior Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led four Bridgeport players in double figures with 17 points. Elliott was joined in double-digit scoring by classmate Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) with 12 points, junior Montana Mayfield (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 11 points, and senior Muhammed Ahmed (Bronx, N.Y.) notched a double-double with 10 points and team-high 10 rebounds.
Oscar Assie led AIC with an impressive double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive glass.
The UB men's basketball team is back in action on Wednesday night when the team travels to LIU Post to open East Coast Conference play with a 7:30 p.m. tilt.
