Bridgeport Tabs Delgado-McIntyre to Lead New Women's Flag Football Program
Purple Knights to begin competition during the 2026-27 school year.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – University of Bridgeport's Director of Athletics Anthony Vitti has named Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre as the inaugural head coach of UB's women's flag football program, bringing a wide-ranging background in playing, coaching, and leadership to the Purple Knights. Bridgeport Athletics had previously announced the addition of women's flag football as its 23rd varsity sport in October.
"We are thrilled to announce Kwadir Delgado-McIntyre as the head coach of our new Women's Flag Football program," said Vitti. "Kwadir's passion for the game and dedication to creating meaningful opportunities for student-athletes align perfectly with our department's mission. We look forward to watching this program grow and thrive under his leadership."
A former five-year member and two-time captain of the Southern Connecticut State University football team from 2016–21, Delgado-McIntyre brings firsthand collegiate experience into the development of a new program.
Following his athletic tenure at SCSU, Kwadir signed to play professional football in the Indoor Football League. Since then, he has begun a coaching career at both the collegiate and high school levels.
"I'm excited to build a winning program that is fun to watch here at UB!" said Delgado-McIntyre. "The emergence of Women's Flag Football around the world has given young women another opportunity to showcase their gifts. I'm happy to be a part of the framework of Women's Flag Football, and more so, I am grateful to UB's Athletic Department for trusting me to carry out their vision of athletic success at the University of Bridgeport."
Prior to arriving at UB, Delgado-McIntyre served as a Defensive Analyst and Team Player Development coach at Southern Connecticut State University, where he helped develop defensive backs and mentor student-athletes towards athletic and academic success.
He also brings high school coaching experience from nearby Hamden High School, working with defensive backs and wide receivers while assisting with film breakdown and daily practice operations.
Delgado-McIntyre boasts a terrific academic resume as well. The Hamden native holds a pair of degrees from SCSU, including a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and is currently completing a Master of Sports Management degree at LSU.
