Baseball Trio Named CSC Academic All-District for 2026

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Excellence in the classroom and on the diamond earned three University of Bridgeport baseball student-athletes 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors this spring.

Alex Bulger, Anthony Matturro and Logan McGrath were each selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team after helping lead the Purple Knights to the program's first-ever appearance in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament this past season.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District baseball teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators, honor the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence both in competition and in the classroom. Criteria for the awards can be found HERE.

UB Baseball CSC Academic All-District Honorees:

Alex Bulger | Sophomore | Pitcher | GPA: 3.95 | Major: Sports Management
- Led the Purple Knights with 41.1 innings pitched
- Tied for the team lead with eight starts (nine total appearances)
- Named CACC Pitcher of the Week on April 20
- Tossed complete-game shutouts vs. AIC (2/28) and Lincoln (4/18)

Anthony Matturro | Senior | Infielder | GPA: 3.65 | Major: Mechanical Engineering
- Named to CACC's All-Conference Second Team
- Led the Purple Knights in total hits (57) and steals (21) 
- Tied for the team lead with 11 doubles and 35 runs scored
- Batted .341 with a .420 on-base percentage
- Recorded at least one hit in 35 games, including 17 multi-hit performances

Logan McGrath | Sophomore | Pitcher | GPA: 3.92 | Major: Sports Management
- Led the Purple Knights in ERA and appearances (13)
- Tallied a 2-2 record across 35.2 innings pitched
- Totaled 26 strikeouts (20 walks)
- Registered five scoreless outings, including four shutout frames vs. Lincoln (4/18)
