Purple Knights start pivotal six-game conference week with decisive triumph.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Beginning a six-game week of pivotal conference matchups, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team posted a 15-5 win over Lincoln on Monday at Seaside Park. The triumph pushes UB's CACC record to 12-15 this season (16-22 overall).
After falling behind 2-0 in the opening frame, the Purple Knights responded immediately with a five-run first, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple from Luke Meister that flipped the momentum.
UB briefly saw its lead erased as Lincoln battled back to tie the game at 5-5 in the fourth, but the Purple Knights answered in the bottom half, reclaiming control behind an RBI double from Vincenzo Della Porta and a three-run home run off the bat of Anthony Armenia (team-leading 7th HR of the year).
The Purple Knights' offense continued to pressure Lincoln throughout the afternoon before breaking the game wide open with a six-run eighth inning.
Meister struck again with a two-run double, while Conor Lesczczynski added a two-run homer to highlight the decisive frame.
In total, Bridgeport racked up 14 hits and 14 RBIs, with Meister leading the charge with three hits and five RBIs, while Armenia drove in three and scored three times.
