HOCKESSIN, DEL. – Wrapping up a two-day three-game series, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team endured a 13-1 defeat at Goldey-Beacom College on Sunday. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 9-14 this season, including 5-9 in CACC play.
Despite showing patience at the plate with nine walks, the Purple Knights managed just five hits—all singles—from five different players.
Anthony Matturro led the way offensively, finishing 1-for-2 while reaching base three times with a pair of walks.
Jaden Echevarria accounted for Bridgeport's lone run, delivering an RBI single in the seventh inning to break up the shutout.
Bridgeport kept things scoreless early, but Goldey-Beacom broke through in the fourth before erupting for four runs in the fifth and an eight-run sixth inning to pull away.
The Purple Knights threatened in multiple frames (11 runners left on base) but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
