BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their first CACC games and home contests of the 2026 season, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team (5-6, 1-1 CACC) split a Saturday doubleheader with Wilmington, winning the opener 15-11 before dropping the finale, 23-10.
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 15, Wilmington 11
The Purple Knights used a blistering start at the plate to seize momentum in the opener, erupting for 11 runs across the first two innings to seize control.
After Wilmington grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the Purple Knights responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning before adding six more in the second to build an 11-1 cushion.
UB's offense was relentless throughout the contest finishing with 12 hits, five doubles and 10 walks while eight different players recorded a hit and seven drove in at least one run.
Michael Incontro led the charge for Bridgeport with a team-high three RBIs while also launching the first home run of his career.
Patrick Krempasky, Anthony Matturro, Conor Lesczczynski and Incontro all turned in multi-hit performances as the Purple Knights continued to add to their lead throughout the contest.
Lesczczynski delivered a two-run double in the opening inning, while RBIs from Andrew Sinclair, Anthony Armenia and Raymond Morales helped fuel the six-run second frame.
UB later added three more runs in the fourth and capped its scoring with Incontro's solo homer in the seventh.
On the mound, Brendan Palmer earned the win in relief, tossing 5.2 innings while allowing three runs and striking out two.
GAME TWO – Wilmington 23, Bridgeport 10
Krempasky led the Purple Knights in the finale with a team-high four RBIs, driving in a pair with a double in the second inning before adding a two-run single in the third.
Anthony Matturro and Ryan Baldwin also turned in multi-hit performances, while Liam O'Neal delivered an RBI triple in the fourth.
Jaden Echevarria contributed as well, lining an RBI single in the first inning.
