Baseball Drops Spring Break Finale at UNC Pembroke
Purple Knights to return to Connecticut with a 4-5 record to start the 2026 season.

PEMBROKE, N.C. – In the final game of their spring break trip to the Carolinas, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team suffered an 18-8 defeat at UNC Pembroke on Wednesday afternoon. The Purple Knights will return to Connecticut with a record of 4-5 to start the season.
UB finished with eight runs on eight hits in the contest, with Jaden Echevarria leading the offense with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Ryan Baldwin also drove in a pair of runs while Anthony Matturro, Jason Berthel, Vincenzo Della Porta and Luke Meister each added a hit for the Purple Knights.
After taking an early 1-0 lead in the opening inning, Bridgeport stayed within striking distance midway through the game, trimming the deficit to 9-6 through six innings.
The Purple Knights added two more runs in the seventh to pull within three, but UNC Pembroke responded with a seven-run bottom half to secure the victory.
