ABOUT THE MLB DRAFT LEAGUE | ABOUT THE CROSSCUTTERS
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a superb career at the University of Bridgeport, former UB baseball standout Jeremy Rodrigues ('25) recently signed a professional contract with the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League. He has already appeared in three games for the team that started its season on July 16.
Rodrigues is off to the professional ranks after completing one of the best careers in Purple Knights' history. The Monroe, Conn. native, who was named CACC All-Conference this past spring, is UB's all-time leader in both home runs (26) and RBIs (118). He was also a career .303 hitter for the Purple Knights with 180 career hits, 114 runs scored and 31 doubles.
Rodrigues was especially impressive in his final season that wrapped up in May. While starting all 49 games, the team captain led Bridgeport in almost every offensive category. He registered team highs in batting average (.359), slugging (.629) and on-base percentage (.453) while also registering a squad best 42 RBIs. Additionally, he scored 49 runs and stole 23 bases—both of which ranked No. 1 on UB.
With the MLB Draft having already taken place on July 13–14, the MLB Draft League has transitioned to its second-half professional format with paid players filling the rosters and playing for professional opportunities.
