Uniondale, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team suffered an East Coast Conference road sweep versus the Molloy College Lions on Saturday afternoon, as UB loss game one, 18-9, and fell in the nightcap, 11-6. With the two losses, the Purple Knights are now 14-26 overall and 10-12 conference play. Molloy moves to 13-24 and is also 10-12 in the ECC.
In the opener, freshman Joey Grillo (Sound Beach, N.Y.) homered and had three runs batted in. Senior Eamon Catherina (Ridgefield, N.J.) went 4-for-5 at the plate, and sophomore Conall Roberts (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) added three hits and two RBI for the Purple Knights.
In game two, sophomore Patrick Palmer (Ansonia, Conn.) had a pair of runs batted in, and Grillo and Roberts plus junior Alex Rauso (Trumbull, Conn.), each had two hits.
The same two teams are schedule to close out their four-game, weekend ECC series in Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 12 noon.
