Baseball Set For ECC Championship Tournament

Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team will be the number two seed in this weekend's 2011 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament hosted by Dowling College.  The Purple Knights, who are having the most successful season in school history, enter the ECC Tournament with a 28-12 overall record.

UB opens play in the East Coast Conference Championship at 12 noon on Thursday, May 12th when they face the number three-seed and host Dowling College Golden Lions.  Bridgeport won the five-game, regular season series over Dowling by a 4-1 margin.  Following the UB-Dowling game, number one seeded Molloy takes on number four seed, St. Thomas Aquinas.

The 2011 East Coast Conference Baseball Championship is a double elimination format, and the winner of the championship will receive and automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship which will begin on May 19th.
