Pujals and Cullen Claim UB Purple Knight of the Week Honors (March 23-29)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following several standout performances in competition last week, sophomore Nicole Pujals of the University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team and senior Connor Cullen of the men's lacrosse squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week for the period ending March 29, 2026.

Pujals emerged as a breakout star for the Purple Knights at the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics National Invitational Championship (WCGNIC). She earned first-team All-America honors on bars after tying for fifth with a 9.675 in Friday's team semifinals, securing her place in Sunday's individual event finals. Pujals elevated her performance even further in the finals, tying for first with a season-best 9.775 to claim a share of the national title. With the historic triumph, she becomes just the second bars national champion in program history.

Cullen delivered another dominant week at the faceoff X, powering the Purple Knights to a 2-0 stretch with wins over AIC and Caldwell. The standout specialist went an impressive 36-for-41 in faceoffs while collecting 24 ground balls, including a season-high 15 against the Yellow Jackets. He also contributed offensively with an assist in each contest. Cullen continues to lead the nation with an 80-percent faceoff win rate (132-of-165) and paces the CACC in both total ground balls (74) and ground balls per game (7.4).
