Ledger and Ryan Earn UB Purple Knight of the Week Honors (Feb. 23 - Mar 1)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following superb efforts in the circle and on the mat, juniors Samantha Ledger (softball) and Matthew Ryan (men's wrestling) have been voted as UB's Purple Knights of the Week for the period ending March 1, 2026.

Ledger turned in an impressive showing in the circle for the Purple Knights, allowing just two earned runs across 11.0 innings of work for a stellar 1.27 ERA. She was particularly dominant in UB's 5-1 victory over Davenport, tossing a complete game while not allowing a single earned run in the win.

Ryan delivered a strong performance of his own at the NCAA Super Regionals in East Stroudsburg, Pa., finishing fifth in the 157-pound weight class. He posted a 3-2 record, highlighted by a 15-2 major decision over Austin High of Fairmont State and an 8-4 decision against East Stroudsburg's Gavin Reynolds.
