UB SAAC in the Community – October Recap
A look at the events where our Purple Knights volunteered their time over the past five weeks.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The University of Bridgeport's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) made a strong impact throughout October, taking part in a variety of initiatives both on campus and in the surrounding community. Below is a look at the events where our Purple Knights volunteered their time over the past five weeks.
10/2: Art Gallery Opening on Campus
"I had a great experience volunteering at the art gallery overall! I was able to connect with tons of UB staff, while enjoying some great food. It was important to me because it served as the reopening of the art gallery for Bridgeport."
- Junior Nick Migliarese, Men's Track & Field
10/5: Head of the Riverfront Regatta
"It was great to volunteer at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta cleanup in Hartford. This was important for UB Athletics to help build a rapport and show our support to the local rowing community as we welcome in the new rowing programs to our school."
- Senior Quinn Aiken, Gymnastics
10/6: Fresh Check Table
"Volunteering at fresh check was super fun and eye opening. I got to learn more about the resources available to us as students, specifically for mental health. It is important to participate in events like fresh check so you can learn ways to improve your mental health and what influences it!"
- Junior Kaley Maxwell, Women's Lacrosse
10/18: Bridgeport Groundwork Trunk or Treat
"Volunteering at this year's trunk or treat while representing the University of Bridgeport made this day even more memorable! I love helping and giving to others whenever there's a chance to do so. Bringing our local community together to celebrate a holiday and show acts of kindness is super important, which is why I chose to participate!"
- Sophomore Ania Mrozik, Women's Swimming & Diving
10/23: Roosevelt Trunk or Treat
"Volunteering at the trunk or treat event is a very meaningful way to give back to our community. Being able to help the younger generation by creating a positive and fun environment should encourage everyone to be a part of this special event."
- Senior Ryan Thomas, Men's Lacrosse
