Rywolt and Hernandez Tabbed as UB's Purple Knights of the Week (Oct. 27 - Nov. 2)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After superb performances at their season-opening meet on Sunday, sophomore Lindsey Rywolt of the University of Bridgeport's women's wrestling team and freshman Jaiden Hernandez of the men's wrestling squad have been tabbed as UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Nov. 2, 2025.

In UB's inaugural competition at the East Stroudsburg Open, sophomore Lindsey Rywolt turned in a history-making performance, becoming the program's first-ever winner and finishing fifth at 124 lbs. The Stratford native went 6-1 with five pins and a technical fall, earning three wins over regionally ranked opponents, including Elmira's Megan Edwards (No. 2) and Sacred Heart's Lauren Nguyen (No. 4).

Hernandez also put forth a sensational day at the East Stroudsburg Open on Sunday. The freshman from Arizona placed second at 141 lbs, rolling to four straight wins before falling to top-seeded Chad Ozias of Pitt-Johnstown in the final. He also claimed UB's highest-seeded victory, opening with a technical fall over No. 3 seed Andrew Roman. Following that triumph, he rattled off a major decision, a decision and a pin to reach the championship.
