Lickteig and Middleton Named UB's First Purple Knights of the Week for 2025-26 (Sept. 1-7)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a pair of outstanding efforts in their season-opening meet on Saturday, Toby Middleton and Stephanie Lickteig of the University of Bridgeport's cross country teams have been named as UB's first Purple Knights of the Week for the 2025-26 school year.
Middleton, who was named the CACC's Runner of the Week on Monday, put together a stellar showing at the LIU Fall Festival where he placed eighth overall and first among non-DI competitors. He also cemented his place in Bridgeport history by setting a new program record in the 8K (27:21.5), surpassing the previous mark of 27:26.7 set by Brian Bor in 2009.
Lickteig, who led the Purple Knights at last year's CACC Championships, continued that momentum to start the new year at the LIU Fall Festival. The sophomore recorded a significant PR in the 5K en route to a team-best 17th-place finish (7th among non-DI runners). Lickteig's final time of 22:02.0 clocked in at nearly two minutes faster than her previous PR in the 5K.
