BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of excellent performances in competition last week, Abby Kenney of University of Bridgeport's gymnastics team and John Panzera of the track and field squad have been named UB's Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending April 13.
Kenney capped off her sensational junior campaign with several top-notch efforts at the 2025 WCGNIC this past weekend in Shreveport, La. The New Jersey native earned a trio of first-team All-America honors in addition to finishing third overall in the all-around. Kenney's weekend featured a 38.950 in the all-around on Friday followed by a season-best 39.125 in the team finals on Saturday. Kenney posted a trio of top-five finishes on Friday night to earn her All-America recognition on floor, beam and bars.

The sophomore tallied 467 more points than he did a year ago at UMass en route to a fifth-place overall finish (5769 pts) in the decathlon. Amongst the standout efforts was a PR in the discus in which he rattled off a mark of 30.11m. Panzera also placed first in the high jump (1.89m), third in the 110-hurdles (15.80) and fifth in both the javelin (43.60m) and pole vault (3.60m).
