Jessen and Romieri Selected as UB's Purple Knights of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After superb efforts across five contests last week, Lapo Romieri of the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team and Hailey Jessen of the volleyball squad have been named the Purple Knights of the Week, for the week ending Oct. 6.

Romieri scored UB's lone goal last week in a 2-1 defeat to No. 22 SNHU. The Italy native is now tied for the team lead (Enzo Beatrix) in both goals (5) and total points (12) this season. Romieri has tallied at least point in four of the Purple Knights' last seven contests.

Jessen broke through last week with a trio of great performances. The sophomore racked up team highs in both kills (40) and hitting percentage (.278) across 11 sets of action. Jessen began the week with 16 kills versus Adelphi before capping off the stretch with 18 more on Saturday against Goldey-Beacom.
