Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team closed out its 2014 home schedule on Thursday night with a 193.525-189.950 dual meet win over the visiting Yale University Bulldogs on Senior Night.
Bridgeport won all for events as team taking the vault with a score of 47.900, the bars with a team total of 49.000, the beam with a score of 47.625 and the floor exercise with a score of 49.000.
UB senior Lissette La Fex (Diamond Bar, California) won Thursday's all-around competition with a total score of 38.400 in the four events. Lissette took first place on the bars with a score of 9.900 and was third on the vault with a score of 9.675.
Junior Caitlin Perry (N. Kingston, R.I.) took first place in the floor exercise for the Purple Knights with a score of 9.900, and Melissa Doucette was second with a score of 9.850 and fellow senior Kamri Riles (Ellenwood, Georgia) was third with a score of 9.800.
UB senior Lisa Oakes (Suffern, N.Y.) was the team's top finisher on the beam finishing in a second place tie with a score of 9.725.
After the meet was over, the ten seniors on this year's Bridgeport women's gymnastics team were honored for their contributions to the program. The members of the UB Women's Gymnastics Class of 2014 are: Rachel Daub, Melissa Doucette, Leah Goldberg, Jenna Hamala-Smith, Lissette La Fex, Ginamarie Marcheschi, Lisa Oakes, Kamri Riles, Zahra Stamps and Erin Turner.
Up next for the UB women's gymnastics team is a trip to West Chester, Pa. for the 2014 ECAC Division II Championship on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights will be looking for their sixth straight ECAC Division II title.
