Denton, TX-One day removed
from winning its second straight USA Gymnastics Team National
Championship, the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights wrapped
up the three-day USAG National Championship Meet hosted by Texas
Women's University with a strong showing in Saturday night's
individual event finals.
Freshman
Monica
Mesalles (Barcelona, Spain) won the national title in
the floor exercise with a score of 9.850. Monica was joined in
the top-10 on the floor by junior
Breanna Collins
(Phoenix, AZ), who tied for sixth with a score of 9.700, and
sophomore
Jessica
Watts (Marietta, GA), who tied for ninth with a score
of 9.625.
On the balance beam, Mesalles and sophomore
Emily
Repko (Gilbertsville, PA) tied for third place with a
score of 9.725, and junior
Lorraine
Galow (Suwanee, GA) was ninth with a score of
9.000.
On the bars, Galow and freshman
Adriana
Panades Erra (St. Julia de Vilatorta, Spain) were the
top Bridgeport finishers, as they tied for sixth with a score of
9.600.
On the vault, freshman Tiara
Land (Somerset, NJ) was the top UB finisher taking
ninth place with a score of 9.650.
