Men's & Women's Basketball Teams Well Represented On All-ECC Teams-Beddome & Boykin Earn First Team All-Conferene Honors; Ruane Named Co-Men's Hoops Coach of the Year

So far this season, Boykin, who was a Second Team
All-Conference selection as a sophomore, is averaging 12.4 points
per, and he leads the Purple Knights in three-point shots made with
69 and steals with 53. Martin heads into the East Coast
Conference Tournament averaging 12.0 points per game and leads UB
in assists with 86, plus he has connected on 90.0 percent of his
free throws, hitting 60-of-66 from the line.
On the women's side, senior forward Emma Beddome (Melbourne, Australia) was named First Team
All-ECC, and front court mates, senior Shannon Malone (Melbourne, Australia) and junior Ana-Maria Kammer (Frankfurt, Germany) earned spots on the Second
Team All-Conference squad.
Beddome leads the UB women's team in rebounding so far
this season averaging 7.2 boards per game, and she is second in
scoring averaging 12.0 points per game. Malone has averaged
10.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game in 2009-2010, and she leads
the Purple nights in assists with 98 and steals with
42. Kammer leads Bridgeport in scoring averaging 13.6 points
per game.
The Bridgeport men will open play in the 2010 East Coast
Conference Championship Tournament this Saturday, March 6 when they
will face the winner of Wednesday night's quarterfinal game
between Molloy and NYIT. The UB men will play at 5:00 p.m. on
Saturday at C.W. Post University in Brookville, NY, as C.W. Post
will serve as host for both the ECC men's and women's
basketball tournament semifinals and finals this weekend.
Earlier on the Saturday, the UB women will open play at 12
noon against the winner of Wednesday night's contest between
Dowling and St. Thomas Aquinas.
The 2010 East Coast Conference Basketball Tournament championships games will be held on Sunday March 7 at C.W. Post, with the women's game tipping off at 12 noon followed by the men's final at 2:30 p.m.
