Cross Country Teams Take First Place At Mitchell Quad Meet

Waterford, CT-Both the University of
Bridgeport men's and women's cross country teams took first place
out four teams in a quad meet hosted by Mitchell College in Stenger
Farm Park on a windy Wednesday afternoon. The UB men took
first place with 25 points, Mitchell was second with 30 points,
Post University was third with 71 points and Albertus Magnus was
fourth with 116 points. In the women's race, Bridgeport was
first with 30 points, Post was second with 39 points, Mitchell was
third with 76 points and Albertus Magnus was fourth.
In the men's 5K, Purple Knights sophomore Brian
Bor (Eldoret, Kenya) took first place with a time of
17:12.7. Senior Dave
James (Trumbull, CT) was third with a time of 18:27.1
and freshman Rich
Lubrano (Dix Hills, NY) and Vinny
Audinot (Commack, NY) took fifth and sixth places
respectively.
In the women's 5K, freshman Jennavie Orrell
(Gloucester, MA) was the top UB finisher taking second place with a
time of 22:34.3. Grad student Sandra Dziurdia
(Saarlouis, Germany) was fourth with a time of 23:13.5, and
sophomore Sandra Schmitz (Breuhl, Germany) took
fifth place in a time of 23:44.9.
The men's cross country team will be back in action on Sunday
morning at the NJIT Highlander Invitational, and the women's team
will return to the course next Wednesday at Post University.
