Men's Soccer Nips # 8 Southern New Hampshire 1-0 in OT

DiBartolomeo (SR, Wallingford, CT) scored with only 1:11
remaining in the first overtime to lift the University of
Bridgeport men's soccer team to a big 1-0 non-conference win over
the number eight ranked team in the nation and the top ranked team
in the East Region by both the NSCAA and the NCAA, Southern New
Hampshire University Penmen. The win raises the Purple Knights
overall season record to 10-3-3. SNHU is now 13-3-2
overall.
DiBartolomeo's game-winning goal, his second of the season, came
on a long shot that found its way into the top corner of net from
outside the 18-yard box.
Junior goalkeeper Peter Barrows (Old
Saybrook, CT), who was making his first start of the 2009 season,
was outstanding in the UB net, making seven saves to notch the
clean sheet in the victory.
Penmen goalkeeper, Sean Lambert, also played
well making five saves between the pipes.
Bridgeport will now look to win the regular season East Coast
Conference title outright on Saturday afternoon as they host New
York Tech at 3:00 p.m. UB needs a win or a tie against the
Bears to take the ECC regular season title on Saturday
