Bridgeport, CT-Former standout
Purple Knights' pitcher Riley Shuckerow (Milford,
CT) has signed a contract to play professional baseball with the
Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League.
A 2009 graduate of the University of Bridgeport, Shuckerow
joins his hometown Bridgeport Bluefish for his first year of
professional baseball after spending the past three seasons at the
University of Bridgeport. The Milford, CT native joined UB after
transferring in from the Community College of Rhode Island. He
earned First Team All-East Coast Conference honors in 2007 and was
a Third Team All-ECC selection in 2009. The lefthander led the team
in wins and strike outs as a sophomore and tied for team led in
wins as a junior and senior. He limited opponents to a minuscule
.203 batting average against in 2009 as he led the Purple Knights
in innings pitched with 55.2.
Shuckerow and his Bluefish teammates are set to open the 2010
season Thursday night at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard when they host
the Somerset Patriots. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
